Over the summer I went slightly mad for boozy ginger beers. Not “dancing on tabletops” mad, I have a toddler to take care of and trust me when I say hangovers and demanding babies are not a good combination.
Basically, I just wanted to try as many of the different ginger beers available. Mostly out of curiosity. I tried my hand at making alcoholic ginger beer back when I was a poor student and remember the results, bar a couple of explosions in my mum’s pantry, being rather pleasing.
Breweries over the last decade have certainly cottoned on to the fact that Kiwis are happy to drink something other than lager and the number of varieties and styles available is more than it ever has been. So I guess this explains why they’ve started making boozy ginger beers (as well as ciders in various flavours too).
So which were my picks? Well, you’ll have to head over to Cake Oven to read my alcoholic ginger beer taste testing post to find out.
